Bob the Builder corn and rice pasta shapes and stir in tomato & basil sauce
Admittedly the corn and rice pasta shapes are not a new product, but the tomato and basil stir in sauce is. However we were delighted at the way the pasta shapes held together so that we could actually identify the characters - Roley, Wendy (or is that Spud?) Bob, Scoop, Muck and Dizzy...
Since pasta, in the UK, is more often being a vehicle for the sauce than a stand-alone meal, we felt that this pasta carried its sauce well. The sauce is certainly full of basil, and has no added salt so great for kids, and includes carrots, celery and onions thereby delivering more vegetables to children than they realise!
The pasta is egg, dairy, wheat and gluten free, and also organic. It took a little longer than suggested to cook: the packet suggest 5-6 mins, but it was more like 7-8 mins before the pasta was just al dente, which is the way we like it.
Available from most supermarkets and online (currently on offer), Bob the Builder corn and rice pasta costs approximately £1.50-£2.00 for 250g (5 servings), and the sauce costs approximately £2.00 for a 190g jar.
