Nature's Path gluten-free Crispy Rice Bars

Nautre's Path rice bars

Nature's Path, who have brought us award-winning, gluten-free breakfast cereals for children and grown ups alike, have branched into the cereal bar market with three different organic Crispy Rice Bites: Berry Bobbly with blueberries and raspberries, Choco Knobbly with light milk chocolate and Peanut Butter Bobbles with, yes, you've guessed it, peanut butter and, interestingly, a little chocolate.

Choco Knobbly were the biggest hit with our four-year old taster Alexander who hummed "ooh, sticky" and "good!" on being asked his opinions. The mild chocolate taste will definitely appeal to kids, and with honey as the main sweetener parents shouldn't baulk too much - although don't skip bedtime teeth cleaning, honey bears suffer from terrible tooth decay.... This one contains milk so not suitable for those with a lactose intolerance or milk allergy.

The adults favoured the Peanut Butter Bobbles, finding the peanut and chocolate flavours worked very well together. This contains peanut so not suitable for those with a nut allergy.

Berry Bobbly had a strange combination of flavours, including marshmallow flavour, which gave the berriness a slightly oversweet taste. However, children might think this is absolutely delicious!

The bars are similar to Kellogg's Rice Krispies Bars, but with a cleaner ingredients list. They are moist and tasty, though not completely virtuous due to their cane syrup and honey content. Nonetheless they are made from mostly organic ingredients and they are not stuffed full of preservatives, additives and colourings. They contain soya, and those without peanut and milk in their ingredients may still contain traces of these allergens.

The Crispy Rice Bites come in 5-pack single flavour boxes, for approximately £2.49, from Waitrose, Ocado and independent health food shops.
